Description (from Goodreads):

Paramedics Treasure and Bodie arrive on scene at a routine emergency call and find an outrageous holiday party, a Christmas tree on fire, and an innocent life to save that nearly cost them their lives.

After escaping the chaos of work, they decide to spend their Christmas vacation together at a secluded lakeside cabin deep in the heart of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. With the snow falling soft, a warm fire in the hearth, and fresh cookies baking in the oven, an innocent holiday getaway quickly turns into a night of spontaneous passion with no strings attached.

Will Treasure and Bodie’s hasty decision to spend the night tumbling between the sheets – and on the table, and the floor – prove disastrous or will their relationship develop into something neither of them saw coming?

Recommended readers 18+ for mature content.

If you are looking for a quick and hot Christmas read, look no further!

Treasure and Brodie are paramedics who usually end up sharing the holiday shifts together due to the fact that they are not single and childless. For a while, Treasure has thought that Brodie is attractive, but that fact hasn't made her act on her possible attractions. She wants to keep her job and her personal life separate and Brodie as nothing more than a friend.

The two are on patrol close to Christmas when they get a call to help in a fire taking place in a townhouse nearby their locating. When Treasure realizes that there is still a child inside the house, she runs in to the fire and almost ends up losing her life. When their shift ends, they both end up at a cabin Treasure has rented for the holidays, and an innocent night of Christmas cookies and films turns into something completely different...

Unwrapping Treasure is a very SHORT and QUICK read, and if I understand right, it is a novella that starts a new series. I was attracted to the cover (I think it is absolutely beautiful) and that is really the only reason I picked this one up. The novella has a lot of references to the lives of the characters before the events of the novel takes place - Brodie's previous relationship, Treasure's childhood, Treasure's active partying etc - which I feel like are things that will be discussed to more extent in the upcoming novels in the series.

Treasure and Brodie are likable and interesting, but because of the shortness of the novella, I feel like I did not get to know that much about them. Jody A. Kessler managed to catch my attention though, and I definitely want to know more about these characters from the upcoming Granite Lake Romance Novels.

I would categorize Unwrapping Treasure as New Adult with sexual content. Though the novel is suggested for readers 18 and over, this definitely wasn't the most explicit sexual content I've come across to while reading new adult/romance novels.

If you are looking for a nice, quick and hot Christmas book to real while enjoying a cup of hot chocolate, eggnog or perhaps mulled wine, you should consider Unwrapping Treasure as a possible contender. It is only $0.99 on Amazon at the moment, so definitely a bargain!
