What I watched this week:

Orange Is The New Black  - I continued with season 2 and I'm up to episode 8 now. It hasn't been as good as the first season, but still very good.

FIFA World Cup 2014 - This is a no-brainer.

Around the Internet:
20 minimalist YA book covers - I really like the ones for The Selection, Shatter Me and Under the Never Sky

Hulu is airing the Delirium Pilot starting from June 20th and here's where you can see the trailer from. I am so EXCITED.

In other news:
We are celebrating my brother's 20th birthday tomorrow - I baked chocolate muffins and also tested this banana cake recipe I've never tried before. I haven't tasted the cake yet, but at least the batter tasted amazing.

I went to the library this week twice and both times came home with some graphic novels. I love to read them, but they are so expensive, so I rather borrow them from the library. I am really looking forward to delving into them once I finish with the book I'm reading at the moment.

It is less than a month to the Finnish premiere of The Fault In Our Stars and I'm so excited (and jealous of those who have already seen it!). I am planning a reread of the novel close to the premiere just to get all the feels to the surface before I see the film.

Next weekend is the midsummer celebration in Finland - a lot of people go to their summerhouses or cabins, but I am planning on staying home, watching films/TV shows and reading.

  1. I haven't seen TFIOS yet! One more week until I can go to the cinema...lol I'm waiting until my sister's on school holidays so we can go together. ;) And the batter is. the. best part of any sweet cooking, for sure. ;) I have a hard time convincing myself to put chocolate chip biscuit dough in the oven. I just want to eat it all! (Bananas cake FTW, though.)

    1. I probably have to go and see TFIOS alone since no one seems to have even heard about it here... Oh well, maybe best that I do the whole crying this alone :D

  2. I see you are in Finland -- that's one of the countries we are thinking of visiting this year. One of my friends went to school with the Orange is the New Black author. Hope the cakes are good! I am blogging at http://fangswandsandfairydust.com and also participating in the meme. New GFC follow! #200!!

    1. Oh, that's cool! What part of Finland are you planning to visit?
That is so cool - I love the show and I really want to read the book it's based on as well.
      Thanks for following!

  5. Enjoy your midsummer, that sounds like a great way to spend it! I've been on a bit of a graphic novel binge lately too- reading some and seeing lots that I want to read. :)

We're enjoying the World Cup too and catching all the games we can.

    1. I was surprised to see how much English graphic novels they had in my library - if I were to read them in Finnish, the selection would be even bigger.

      Thanks for stopping by! :)

  6. I have been wanting to see Orange is the New Black - I'm glad you're enjoying it! I can definitely see why you're going the library route for graphic novels, they are very expensive!! Enjoy your midsummer and I hope you enjoy The Fault in Our Stars! Late releases are so unfair!

    1. It is amazing - you should definitely give it a go!
Yeah, late releases suck - I'm happy that no one can really spoil the film for me though since I already know what happens since I've read the book :D

  7. I still have a couple of episodes of OitNB to watch. I'll watch a couple, and then go months without watching again. Huh, are they only showing the Delirium pilot? Then nothing else? That's cool, but kind of sucks. I haven't read the books.

    1. Yeah, they're only showing the pilot because that's probably the only episode they did (the show wasn't picked up by FOX) but it might be that the pilot is kind of like a short film of the whole story of Delirium - usually they put a lot more stuff into the pilot than the original first video because pilots are not always aired. I'm just excited to see how they have done it, especially so I can judge whether I think it could have made it in TV.

  8. Ooh, I really enjoyed Ready Player One, can't wait to see your review for it. I really need to read My Life Next Door soon, definitely have heard lots of good things!
I love reading graphic novels, but I hate buying them, too, because, yes they are so expensive and also, there's also sooo many volumes! lol The Midsummer celebration sounds fun! Have a lovely week (:

    1. I read Ready Player One AGES and the review has been on my drafts since then - maybe it's finally time to post it. :)
My Life Next Door was just okay for me and I must admit I expected a bit more - it was a decent read, but not memorable at all.
      Thanks for stopping by! :)

  9. Are they going to dub The Fault in our Stars into Finnish or is it going to have subtitles or all in English? I know that I Germany, they would always dub it into German. Was perfectly normal when I lived there, but now it would just annoy me. :)
Have a great week and Happy Reading.

  10. Graphic Novels are very expensive. I get all mine from the library also. I just can't afford that reading habit. You know, I haven't watched Orange is the new Black. I just can't decide if I want to or not... I already watch Justified which has some parts take place in jail. Maybe I should watch a couple of episodes.

  11. Oohh happy birthday to your brother! I love banana cake although I don't like bananas at all. :D Graphic novels are indeed expensive that's why I just borrow from my friends. I haven't watched TFIOS though, I hope you enjoy the movie! :)

  12. Happy belated birthday to your brother!
I'm a big graphic novel fan but I agree they are very expensive so I'm glad my library has a huge selection.
    Have a good week!
