Top Ten Characters Who Remind Me Of Myself Or Someone I Know In Real Life

1. Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

After reading Pride and Prejudice the first time ever, I wanted to be like Elizabeth Bennet. And I think that through my decisions in life I have become a bit like her; I am independent, if I have an opinion about something, I speak my mind. I also love Mr. Darcy, so I think that is something we share as well.

2. Lorerai Gilmore from the TV series and the tie-in novels

She is super sarcastic, she does not give a crap what people think about her, she is independent and funny. Even though she is known as the "funny one", she is also very intelligent. And she is addicted to coffee, just like me.

3. Catherine Morland from Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

She gets way too into the stories she reads. She is curious and sometimes makes bad decisions just to feed her curiosity. The only thing I personally don't have is someone as awesome as Mr. Tilney.

4. Muskrat (Comet in Moominland), a character created by Tove Jansson

Muskrat is this highly pessimistic philosopher who talks about the end of the world and then moves to a cave. I am extremely pessimistic and always think the worst about everything. I am sometimes also very unsocial and rather just stay in my own thoughts. Definitely the best moomin character!

5. Scarlett O'Brien from From Notting Hill with Love...Actually by Ali McNamara

This woman is OBSESSED with romantic comedies, and she expects her life to be the same. The people around her think that she is insane hoping that she finds the man of her dreams and they think that she should settle for what she has. But of course, she gets lucky. I am waiting for that to happen to me.

6. Anna from Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Just because of her love for cinema.
And I can also identify with her because I left home when I was 16 to study in a foreign country.

7. Jane from Austenland by Shannon Hale

Three words: Jane Austen OBSESSED

(JJ Feild in the movie version of the novel
.... I CANNOT WAIT!)

8. Virginia from The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things by Carolyn Mackler

"If you had a small, puny present and a big, round present, which one would you open first? The big, round one, right? Who ever said smaller is better? NO ONE, that's who!"
For the confidence, for the beauty of a "plus-size" body, for the beauty inside!

9. Bridget Jones

A bit awkward, sometimes embarrassing, but always hoping and meaning the best.

10. Hayley from Pretty Face by Mary Hogan

For the rising confidence in herself, for the fact that everyone is beautiful, just the way they are. Also for the fact that being away from home, in a totally different place with different people, I realized that it is okay for me to like myself, just the way I am.

    1. I almost forget her as well, but then when I was thinking about this later on, I came back and edited the post by deleting Hermione Granger and adding Catherine Morland. :)

  2. Ugh, I feel so bad for not reading Jane Austen and then seeing it on everybody's list. I need to fix that ASAP.

I totally agree with Bridget Jones! OMG I think every woman is a bit like her. ^^

    1. Oh, I wish I could discover Austen for the first time again - I know it sounds totally cheesy, but the novels of that woman changed my life.

Yeah, I think every woman has a little (or big) Bridget Jones somewhere deep down.

    1. Yeah, I first thought about including Rory, but then I thought that I should include Lorelai instead - I feel that sometimes Rory is maybe a bit "too nice" for me to identify with.
